R&K Solutions is an employee-owned, small business specializing in real property business support for managers of some of the world's largest facilities portfolios. Since 1984, R&K has supported government and private sector clients with a full range of real property services and software solutions.
The founders' vision was to apply expertise in Information Technology (IT) to the tracking and management of real property assets. The company developed, and continues to refine, automated planning tools for the unique facilities of the Department of Defense (DoD). Recognizing that property records were localized and disparate, R&K approached the issue from two directions.
R&K assisted the DoD in developing consistent identification and descriptions for each type of asset, refined asset tracking tools and offered customized software applications tailored to real property requirements from the installation to the headquarters level.
Concurrently, they began to offer verification and reconciliation records by conducting site inventories to improve compliance with federal asset management requirements. This corporate understanding of individual facilities led R&K to design targeted software solutions which offered users better visibility and understanding of their assets.
From an original staff of three, R&K Solutions has grown to more than 70 specialists in three different offices and onsite at client locations in the U.S. and overseas. R&K offers a wide range of services to real property portfolio managers in healthcare, higher education, corporate, federal, state and local government.
Corporate Headquarters is located in Roanoke, VA. In 1989, the Alexandria, VA branch was opened to serve the Washington, D.C. region and in 1993, R&K added an office in San Antonio, TX.
In July 2005, R&K Solutions became an employee-owned business, fully committed to the success and satisfaction of their clients. After 20 years of managing R&K, the owners began to discuss management transition strategies for the company. Although R&K received many offers, the owners decided to set up an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) to provide a way for the employees to share in R&K's success.
This commitment to their clients has enabled R&K Solutions to retain many customers through multiple consecutive contracts while steadily expanding their client base. Today, R&K provides valued products and services to the DoD Headquarters, Services and Agencies, and private industry clients.
